Hi Mountain Gold

The Hi Mountain Gold farm is situated on 49 acres 20 miles east of the Central California Coast in the quiet foothills near the Los Padres National Forest. It is horse country.

Hi Mountain Gold breeds for color horses. It all started some 30 plus years ago as a hobby like many others have done. Since then, Hi Mountain Gold evolved into an Equine breeding facility with emphasis on primarily Palomino and Buckskin colored horses. The fact that breeding a Cremello colored horse to a non-gray automatically produces a color horse became a main focus for Hi Mountain Gold many years ago. But for Hi Mountain Gold, finding the quality as well as color was, and always will be, of the utmost importance.

In 2005, Hi Mountain Gold successfully negotiated the purchase of one of the most impressive well rounded Cremello stallions around. His name is Zippo Vanilla Bar. Sire: BTS Country Cowboy by Zippo Pine Bar; Dam: Quincys McCue Tee. Zippo Vanilla Bar is a proven breeder and show winner as well as being a training horse for small children. To top all that off, he is as gentle as one can hope for and he passes that on to his foals. And to add to his credentials, he is enrolled in the following: AQHA Incentive Fund, APHA Breeders Trust and IAHA Breeders Sweepstakes.

Hi Mountain Gold offers shipped semen or mares can be boarded at the farm and bred on site. Owners Katy and Randy Frantz have the expertise to get your mare in foal either way. Randy completed a course in Equine reproduction management at Colorado State University. A well equipped lab at Hi Mountain Gold aids in the processing of the semen for shipping or on site insemination. While boarding mares at Hi Mountain Gold, mare owners can be assured they will be well taken care of. They are housed in 12’ x 16’ stalls with 12’ x 24’ sand runs with 6’ high mesh panels to prevent problems with other horses.
